Glénat have published a new work by Patrick Moreau focusing on a selection of decorative knots. The hard-core decorative knot tyer will certainly already know all the knots described in this book. As with Le B.A.Ba des Noeuds Marins, there are no photos, only drawings. I found this work by chance while trawling the quays of Vannes during the Gulf Week (la semaine du Golfe), I was also lucky enough to meet Benoît Héron his talented illustrator who signed my copy. The book is presented in three parts: flat knots tied on a plan, multi-strand knots, single-strand knots among which the inevitable Monkey’s Fist and a few basic Turk’s Heads.
The last of these 4Lx5B is then transformed into a Gaucho Knot. This is an excellent reminder for those who might have forgotten how to carry out this transformation. The clarity of the book comes both from the descriptions provided by Patrick Moreau and the excellent drawings of the knots by Jean- Benoît Héron which have to be among the best in their genre that I know. What a great book!
