lanyard
« on: August 31, 2020, 10:32:09 PM »
Hello,

I am new to this decorative knot making(i have made 2 bellrope's but with a book by my side and a small cord for a usb stick) and would like to make a lanyard like the boatswain lanyard's of the navy. I have 40m of 2mm 8 strand pp. But i can't realy find some good description of witch braids or i dont know how ist called in english. This is the link (https://theshipinabottle.com/boatswain_lanyards.htm)to what i would like to accomplish. I do know it will take some time and that i probably will need to do it a few times over but i realy want to take my skill to the next level and have a nice lanyard for my keys for my scout uniform. So if you guys could help me by giving the names of the knots and braids that can be used to make somethimg like this I would be very greatful.

Thanks in advance

Hello,

Thank you for the site that is the kind of thing i was looking for.
Here is the little cord i made from some leftover rope as a practice. I made a mistake by not leaving any room in front of the first star knot so its really tight around the eye of the USB stick and cant really turn also didn't help that I tightened the thing till the knot is hard as a rock but yea.

Thanks and if someone has some more tips or good ideas for what i can do to make a kickass lanyard pleas let me know.
