New knot for necktie?
« on: December 18, 2006, 09:28:12 AM »
Hello!
A young guy in Sweden claims to have invented a new knot for neckties, a kind of combination of Windsor and four-in-hand. The basis for the claim that it is new is that nobody in the shops he had visited had seen a knot like that before. I have never seen it before, either, but I also know how many “new” knots that have turned out not to be new at all.

As the foremost expertise in the world is to be found here I ask you all: Is it really new?

I enclose a link to the description in the newspaper. The text is in Swedish, but the description at the bottom of the article should be “omnilingual”.

No, apparently not.
In the article it says that last year the guy recieved a (=1) sheet of paper from a teacher with a couple of necktie knots described. From this he experimented out his own knot. This knot he has presented in several shops in Stockholm, Sweden, where he lives. That is the "research", as far as I understand.

If the knot really is new (after all, stranger things have happened) it would be nice to be able to base it on firmer facts than what the staff in a few shops can recognize!
