« on: October 28, 2019, 04:21:28 AM »
Hello, during field investigation an old mayan man show me his sling (to hunt and scare birds from his cornfields) made simply with a rope and two knot...Someone had seen some like this before?

I think this is an ordinary simple loop, tightened in the middle of the rope.Looks like an Overhand knot.

Yes! It is very simple indeed...but my question was for its  use, I never heard about and I can't find a sling (to  hurls stones) made by those simple knots in a rope.

Good day Xtaab.

There are many mid-span loops out there, some are better than others, depending on the intended use and what material is to be used.

You can look into the many loop knots that are tied with a bight of cord or rope.

Some of these have improved directional loading performance (inline fig.8, or butterfly loop), and if you need to untie from time to time, there are those that are easier (depending on loads imparted and type of rope used).
