*New*? (Pseudo-)Bowline by Mike SWEENEY
« on: February 01, 2019, 12:35:19 AM »
This just in off the newswire :

This was sent to me :

www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=7&v=-T-TkEI4yX0

Note that the beginning structure is a (as I call it)
"not-quite marlinespike hitch" form --and thus needs
the 2nd tuck of the tail, and then has its special
collapsing into the intended knot (or not always?).

(Note also that he continued to fail to open the frig,
so might be thirsty/hungry after the video was shot.   :P )

I've not yet played around with it, but quickly put
it out on the e-waves for others' consideration as is.

It took me a while to remember where I've seen the components of this until I let the tension off the knot to reveal the Japanese Bend in this loop form.  See the attached image.

The sticky part becomes making sure you don't make a mistake in tying this as there a number of convincing impostors knots that may or may not be benign.
