Any Knot to Slide Against a Stop?
« on: September 11, 2017, 08:28:42 PM »
I have a need for what should have a simple solution but after a ton of searching I have come up empty.

I have a line that comes through a hole.  I would like a knot that I can tie and slide against the hole so that the line won't pull back through the hole.

It is in a tight spot so I can't just tie it against the sides of the hole.  I need to tie it a little away from the hole and then slide it snug against the hole. Well, I guess I should say slide it against the material that makes up the wall if the hole.

Thanks In Advance,
Pete

???  Goodness, doesn't this challenge sound familiar !

I am pulling a piece of twine knotted on one end through a hole in one object
into the  hole of another object, I need a knot that will slide tight at the end of the
second object so I don't have slack between the two ...

I have been thinking about my problem a little more.
I could use just a slip knot.  I could slip it against the hole but the problem is it would slip back and loosen.
So I guess I need a slip knot that slips in only one direction and resists slippage in the other direction.

I give up.
I will go over to the dark side of the force and not use a knot.

I ordered a bunch of split shot sinkers.  I can crimp them on the line and let them bump against the hole.

Thanks for thinking about my problem.
