Knot for a baby car seat
« on: March 03, 2017, 05:22:57 PM »
Hello.
We have a baby car seat that is heavy to carry. So i thought i can use a shoulder strap as support.

I attached a strong enough hook at the ends of a shoulder strap.

I tied a klemheist or prusik knot to the  carrying handle of baby seat.

I attach the hook to the loose loop of the knot when i need.

Howrver when not in use these knots come loose easily.

Is there any knot to tie on a pole that provides a sturdy loop?

You could try a constrictor knot around the handle.  Then bend together the free ends to form a loop of sorts.

If you take the hitch's "loose loop" around through the
crossing part of the hitch again (or twice again), you will
put into that crossing part --upon pulling the loop-- some
round turns, which can serve to grip the loose loop just
as the hitch is gripping the object tied to,
and that will keep things tidy.
(YMMV with materials.)

Good day nervusvagus and welcome.

Make a simple sling long enough to do the task, including the knots.

Tie a Piwich hitch (Bull hitch) around the carry bar and then hook your shoulder strap to the affair. The hitch should remain tight enough or it is simple enough to tie and stow in the seat. Or slide it to the side.

Hope this helps.
