make pendant lay flat with front to back hole
« on: March 20, 2015, 11:48:00 PM »
Hello,

Thanks for reading.  I must admit I know very little about knots.  I'm here because I have a necklace that was a gift from my wife, but I hardly wear it because it drives me crazy to have the pendant not lay flat.  The hole is drilled front to back and their is silverwork fusing the end of the leather strap it is on such that, while it is an adjustable slip knot, I can't undo it to just add a hoop to change the direction of the way the pendant hangs.  Any suggestions on a knot that may be useful to get the pendant to lay flat?  Any help much appreciated.  A pic is below:

Hi abidingdude and welcome.

If there is sufficient diameter in the pendant's hole, then you could use a cow/lark hitch. The charm would then orient flat, but at the expense of no longer sliding along the neck piece.

Then you might try tying a simple overhand knot close to the pendant, tightening it till the loop is at the acceptable angle.
