Tie 3 ropes together?
« on: December 27, 2014, 02:08:49 AM »
Is there a good way to tie the ends of 3 ropes together in a "Y" formation?  I looking for a two lines come in and one goes out kind of a thing.

I'm looking for the end result to be a nice looking single knot, not a loop to loop kind of thing.

Hi dmgadct.

A simple method would be the same as in this thread's request. http://igkt.net/sm/index.php?topic=5170.msg33916#msg33916

What will be the usage?

In this case it will for a decorative purpose but it got me thinking that there must be a good method for practical use as well, like one line pulling two separate loads.

I think the double sheet bend will work nicely. Thank you.

Nice knot this 4-ropes one, Ruby, It looks like a double-line ABoK something.
This is not a knot.

maybe  the center double four-part crown center nub structure is similar to ABoK #2445?

anyway it's actually a four-loop  decorative knot. cut each loop and get a 4-rope bend ;D

the 3-rope one is same method.

Thanks. So, you can tie a 5-rope one the same way.
This is not a knot.

well, like diamond knot, wall, crown , Matthew walker knot in ABoK, this kind knot is  for  n-rope. same method repeat n times. seems complicated but easy enough.

Thanks all.  A figure 8 bend using all three ends seems to do the trick too.
