Slipped Lap Knot ?
« on: September 10, 2014, 10:36:50 AM »
Hi all,

I'm looking for the name of this knot:

I've searched the The Ashley Book of Knots and can't find it. It looks similar to #1437 but is different.

Thanks in advance!

It looks like the slipped version of the evil impostor version of the Lapp Knot:

Not at all : l00k again!  ::)

(The *bight-hitching* end should reach to
and nip the bight's tail, which it does (and
continues to wrap around ...).
 => tails on same side, as preferred for
the sheet bend )

NB : one gains considerable utility for this much
underrated, unknown end-2-end (end-2-bight) knot
by making at least one full turn of the hitching
end around where the given knot just stops.

I sit corrected.  I must not have been fully awake at the time.
