Mistake in IGKT knot chart at website
« on: October 18, 2014, 02:24:42 PM »
I believe there is a mistake on page 69 of this chart

In the notes on pg 69 they refer to a #58   which could only mean page 58 and the knot info there but the knot on page 58 has nothing to do with the knot on page69.
I suspect that the Anglers knot may also be the "perfection
loop"  and perhaps that is what they wanted to suggest.

Also, the representation of bowlines is sorely lacking in this chart.
Please add the Yosemite and Water Bowline Bowline in a Bight as well as several of the new Bowlines described in Gommers  Bowline Analysis document.   Without having to renumber the entire document these additions could be in the form of page 8b, 8c, 8d

Lastly,  ALL the organized info about knots should contain info
about how easy to untie ( at least) and maybe how strong etc.
In too many instances there are a great quantity of knots to choose from but with no relevant info to help you decide.

Thanks Sincerely
Scott Perkins

Hi Scott

Unfortunately this file of numbered knot charts has been put together as numbered pages and page 58 does not refer to Knot Chart 58 (which is the Angler's Loop also known as the Perfection Loop).  The chart numbers are not shown which doesn't help. The other problem is that these charts are many years old - they predate the Yosemite finish for the bowline for example - and were designed simply as tying diagrams. Unfortunately nothing has been done to update them or, perhaps better, provide links to more modern material.
