Knot in my driveway
« on: September 02, 2008, 10:42:06 PM »
Hello,

My name is Paul and I have been keen on knot tying since I was a boy scout 30 years ago  :o

I thought you may appreciate the pattern I put in my drive when I block paved it.

It looks a lot better now it is weathered in, I will post a recent picture if I can find one.

Well, who'd have thought of a knot you can't pick up?

Nicely done and (I'm sure) one heck of a lot of work and planning!

The setting out was very simple. All you need is an equilateral triangle with each side divided into three and you have the centres for all the radius'

Here is a more recent photo.

It is difficult to get a picture without distorting the shape.

That looks awesome, Paul. Great job!
I wonder if that's the biggest knot posted on the site. I know it's the largest I've seen! Thanks for sharing.

:o Wow, that's a great job, very nice indeed! As stated above, I can see that you put in a lot of planning and back breaking work. I would love to do something like that.

How Do Paul& All ;)

Amazing Work Paul, it must have taken an age to cut all of those blocks on the inner and outer parts of the design, but well worth the effort. I guess you have no plans to move house any time soon  ;D

By the way; any one wondering what knot it is; you will find it as ABOK #2360, a useful Thump Mat, the overhand motif repeated in this pattern can be expanded and repeated to make a Kringle Mat shown as ABOK #2355 and #2356.

Here's a Kringle Mat I made using the Same Motif:

Not quite in the same league in terms of size and time though  :)

Take care,
Barry ;)
