Title: Identify this belt; how do I finish?
Post by: ddo on December 07, 2019, 06:53:02 AM
Attached a photo of a belt project given to me... I'd love to finish it up. Anyone know where this design is described? Help please!

Good day ddo.

What you're showing looks like tatting. You may try searching among the sites about it.

I have a photo of a leather lace sash/belt I did years ago and it is a simple termination the worked well for me with this medium.

You could gather all the loose ends and neatly tie an overhand knot using all of them. Or a small Turks head knot

You're looking at something similar to this:

If you don't like video instructions head over to http://friendship-bracelets.net/index.php (http://friendship-bracelets.net/index.php).  They're not as lacy, but the basic knots are the same and presented very clearly here.  For more specifically the pattern you are looking for, look up "micromacrame".

Thank you all for great suggestions and links. I now am further on my way to understanding how to continue this pattern. De-mystified! Some details to still figure... so now I will show the other end of what I was given. Apparently something was going to engage at this end.
