I've been trying to figure out this pattern wrap. But I cannot get it .I thought it was a 6 strand round braid but I'm unsure. If anyone can help it would be awesome. Also maybe a tutorial. Thanks im trying to make a wrapped axe as a going away gift for one if the captains in ny unit.

It looks like several Turks heads stacked on top of each other.
It could be a braid that is wound, though the lead seems very small.

Good day Jc191291 and welcome.
To me it looks like someone used three colors, each color used with double strands to make a three strand braid that was then wound tightly and slid against each turn around the core (haft) and then the beginning and end of the braid covered by Turks heads.
More than likely the wraps are adhered to the core to keep them from moving (if this were going to see action). Sometimes the whole handle gets a soaking finish.
Here's a link to Grog's animated tutorial http://www.animatedknots.com/braidthreestrandone/index.php (http://www.animatedknots.com/braidthreestrandone/index.php). Just use two cords of each color as one.
Thanks for your service and I hope this helped.
