Title: Best knot for a rope swing?
Post by: Mike on October 21, 2005, 06:48:39 AM
what is the best way to attach a rope to a tree limb to make a rope swing.? It would need to be one the would not allow the rope to slide back and forth around the limb so the rope would not fray.

Hello!

Just the beginning of an idea :

Make 2 of this :

Install it like this ( sorry am no Da Vinci!):

Rope, security and so forth...
I will add : tree are living things : in bonsaĆ® we take great care not to let an obtacle to sap circulation stay overlong and never hurt the bark just as you would never hurt the skin of an animal ( human or not). Please ttry to think of hanging the position a few inches from season to season if you leave it in place year round.

Cheers

Added :
forgot to tell :
you can ( as in done on board of boats to prevent some of the chaffing) slide the rope between the eyes, inside a thick-walled plastic tube. That should prevent some of the friction on the limb and avoid most of the chaffing.( or so I think...)
