I did Scouting when you had to tie six knots before you could be invested. I found the knotting so interesting that I asked Santa for a book, Knotting and Netting by Leslie Woolard. I did National Service, which included tank recovery using Snatch Blocks that took two people to carry.
I have been a leader in Scouting for over 50 years, and read about the Guild in an article in Scouting magazine. I joined the IGKT in 1986 and have been a very active member since 1991 when we formed the West Yorkshire Branch, and began demonstrating at Waterways Festivals and similar events. The Guild has introduced me to fancy knots, and I do a lot of rope-making.
