Knot Challange
« on: July 03, 2007, 09:46:05 PM »
Help I have been challenge by a Tree climber to find out more about the Valdetain (check spelling) as this does vary. During my search I have come across your your web site and now fell confident that the quest for more information is nearing the end.
I would be so grateful if one of your members could supply me with more information regarding this knot, origin and pictures.

This friction hitch is much favored in arborist circles, and you can learn more about
it by reading discussions on e.g. www.treebuzz.com's buzzboard and arboristsite.com;
at the Treebuzz site there are a couple pdf files with information about these hitches
--see www.treebuzz.com/articles.php and look at:

www.treebuzz.com/pdf/climbing_hitches.pdf
www.treebuzz.com/pdf/geneology.pdf  [sic  ( "genealogy" is correctly spelled in the article)]
www.treebuzz.com/pdf/Apr07-cc.pdf

"Valdotain" is the spelling; and the valdotain tresse should also be of interest.

Many thanks for your help, you were right on the money.
Even a bigger bonus were the pictures.
Once again many thanks.
