I am tring to teach myself how to coachwhip but am having problems keeping track of the lines. Is parachute cord to large to try and learn on. Are there any good tutorials out there.?

There is one tutorial I know about, at KHWW.

And paracord should be alright. Maybe you can try double strands if you have much to cover.
Some people I know use strips of textiles rather than string, maybe you can try that too?
