Seems like there are plenty of synonymous terms that could be agreed upon.

Choke
Strangle
Squeeze
Crush
Pinch
Sphincter
Iris
Aperture
Restriction
Etc.

What term(s) best serves the part and action? Of course it can be a simple multi-word combination.
Lets see what can be agreed upon.

NIP
i think this has less confusion than other knot terms, but still not mainstream familiarity to common folk.

I agree BUT I don't think that the man on the Clapham Omnibus would either comprehend or care about the esoteric discussions taking place on the Forum lately. "Nip" is short, simple and I think sufficiently suited to its specific use in knotting. Why try to solve a non-existent problem?
