Another option, shown in the attached image, is to isolate your webbing bend (represented by the red square) in the center of a turn and then link to the overlapping portion of the turn with a Gnat Hitch as shown.

The webbing is shown in yellow.  The rope is shown in white.

This will have the added benefit of partially protecting the webbing knot from high strain that might otherwise cause jamming.

hey roo, just now remembering to get back to this thread. thanks for the help, i am learning to really appreciate the gnat as a replacement for the buntline and the scaffold in many situations. also, tying into the bend like in your diagrams is a great idea and works really well for my purpose. i still have yet to try the zeppelin loop to zeppelin bend idea, but this also seems like a really cool way to go about it and something i will have to play with in the future. cheers!
