I'm not sure exactly who you could contact but I know that there are some good resources http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/agencies-public-bodies/fsr/ that has a ton of information on what you might be looking for. I am curious to know what the biggest differences are within what you're learning now and writing about in your dissertation and what the new students that are just getting starting in forensics might be learning. The best part of this field is how many innovations are being reported and what to look forward to in the future. If you're just getting into the field an want some more information, I would check out http://www.bestforensicscienceschools.com/ that answers any questions you may have about the industry, career opportunities etc.
