Changing the Title of a Topic

Sorry Derek but we cannot afford the resource to do this modification for at least a couple of months. In any event what would be the case for doing the modification?

Hi Barry,
The reason for asking for Tags, was so that complex topics like the Lexicon could have posts tagged for certain aspects of the subject, thus enabling the rapid reappraisal of progress an any tagged subject without having to track back through the whole topic. However, I appreciate the massive targets you have set yourselves for this year, and I would not want to put anything in your path to delay those goals, so please ignore this request and we will see how we manage.
Your predicted time line to death of the topic may yet be proven and so the facility might yet not be needed.
@Webmistress - thank you for looking into the feasibility for us.
Derek

1. On other forums of which I am a member, it is not possible to change the original title of a thread, even if you are the original poster. Moderators, with mystic powers, can sometimes do it, if you ask them nicely. This inability to change a title can sometimes be frustrating, but I can think of (and have seen) instances where, for example, a changed title can leave some of the subsequent posters looking stupid. At least, it can leave their posts looking rather odd. So I wouldn't myself on balance push for the system to be changed.
2. Tags. I didn't realise this was possible, though have often thought it would be a good idea on other forums. For example, motorbike forums often have a sub-forum called "Ride reports". Someone writes a report, with pictures, about riding his XYZ motorbike through countries AB&C, he has problems with insertacomponent, visits PQ&R monuments. Anyone interested in any of these ABC/XYZ/PQ&R items might not find the thread. Mainly because it will be drowning in a sea of other similar threads. Having tags for typeofmotorcycle etc would hugely improve the ability to fine-tune searches. How much use such tags would be on a knot forum, however, I do not know. But then I know a lot less about knots than I do about motorbikes.
