Wow,

To attempt even a half of all that would have been daunting - you have set yourselves a really impressive task. http://igkt.net/sm/index.php?topic=1618.0

You are going to need help - do you have particulars in mind?

Re increasing membership, could I suggest a poster campaign - include two A3 posters with the next KM to each member and ask them to put them up in a prominent place - Library, School, Community Centre, Scout / Cadet hut,  etc.  This could reach well in excess of a million people at very little cost.

The challenge though will be to design the poster - how about asking the members for ideas and designs, or a challenge for schools across the world to design and send in their best designs.  Winning schools get a prize and the Guild gets a staggering amount of promo - worth even notifying the nationals - putting on exhibitions of entries in major cities around the world ? ?

PS.   posting the notice where you did means that no one can reply to it.

I did not know that we had a corporate membership, so I went and had a look -

Corporate Membership  seems to have been mis-cast, what is described is Club Memership - a great endeavour...

Corporate Membership should be business or professional group membership, and until we set out our stall to attract Corporate Membership, then we continue to be a Hobby Guild

Maybe you should have linked to the post you are referring to so people don't think you're having an online conversation with the voices in your head.  For a while, I thought you were experiencing a reply glitch.

Thanks Roo - good suggestion - done.

As to the voices, the only voice I hear 'in my head' is my own, talking to myself all the time as I think or read.  Isn't it strange that we can't just think about something without saying it to ourselves ? ?

Besides, the perpetual din of the Tinitus would drown out any other voices should they decide to come a talking to me.

Derek,
I must say, not just because I was sitting on my hands, but I slept on it before I answered your post, I too thought I had missed out on some dialogue.

Now I have read the NEW subject on our web site,I say Bravo Zulu to the IGKT Council for the annual plan.Whether it works is down to folks wanting it to. To add to Dereks comment, as well as A3 posters for our shows, can we have some smaller ones please, postcard size, some noticeboard owners are rather strict on what you put up, size does matter.

BZ I am pleased the ship is back on course, IGKT at 30 is just around the corner, what can we do to help.

Yours Aye

Thanks for the comments Derek and Ken. I realised that when I made the Announcement it was on a restricted part of the Forum but it seemed the ideal place to draw attention to the issue. We have already discussed some aspects of publicity (for example free standing display posters which roll up into an aluminium carry case for use at exhibitions) - I will gladly take these other ideas to the Council. Some new leaflets have been printed which we will distribute shortly - if anyone would like a supply please e-mail me with your name and address (if possible via a local Branch to keep postage costs to a minimum).  For info we next meet on 6 February weather permitting so if anyone has anything to feed in post here (and copy to me by e-mail please).

Ken,

You are fond of using Bravo Zulu.

Shouldn't we be using  --

I wonder if there is a knotting equivalent ?

Derek,

The IGKT has the alphabet in knots, I am not too sure that counts.

The Chinese have a 'Good Luck Knot' , so I shall look in that book for a 'Well Done Knot'  who knows what I shall find.

The International Federation of Vexillological Associations, have a knot on their flag, but I am reading Dan Browns latest book, so I am not sure about anything at the moment.

Yours Aye

Maybe a "well done" knot can be one that is burned to a crisp, or a straight rope without a hitch or a noose...
